Afghan Trust Charity Dinner 6th September

PARACHUTE REGIMENT AFGHANISTAN TRUST CHARITY DINNER - 6TH SEPTEMBER
The Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust charity is holding a charity dinner at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) in the City on Monday 6th September 2010, in order to raise funds to assist in the provision of welfare support for paratroopers wounded in Afghanistan.
The fund was set up in 2006 following the Regiment's first tour of duty in Helmand Province and also provides assistance to the families of those soldiers who have been killed in action. Each of the Regiments four battalions (1, 2, 3 and 4 PARA) have served in Afghanistan and 2 and 3 PARA (supported by members of 4 PARA) are due to return there for their second and third tours respectively in the autumn; elements of 1 PARA also continue to serve there.
Sadly, but inevitably, further casualties are expected and there is likely to be a resulting increase in the demands on the charity's funds in 2010/11.
The evening will start with a drinks reception at 1830 with a freefall parachute display from the Regimental display team the 'Red Devils' who will jump into the grounds of the HAC. There will also be static displays of military equipment, a photographic exhibition of previous Afghanistan tours and a Beating of the Retreat by the Band of the Parachute Regiment before the formal dinner starts at 1930.
Each table of 9 will be hosted by a Parachute Regiment officer or SNCO who has served in Afghanistan. After dinner there will be a short speech by Colonel Stuart Tootal DSO OBE who commanded 3 PARA in Afghanistan in 2006 and is the author of 'Danger Close - Commanding 3 PARA in Afghanistan'. This will be followed by a charity auction, where lots will include: tandem jumping with the Red Devils, executive stretch training days with the Paras and sporting and holiday items. Carriages will be by midnight.
The event will make for an excellent evening and also provides the opportunity to conduct corporate hospitality in aid of an extremely worthwhile cause.
We are also looking for sponsors to help support the evening. In return branding opportunities, such as the Red Devils jumping in with a 4x6 ft company flag, company logos on invitations and menu cards etc are available.
All proceeds from the evening will go direct to the charity.
